Job description

Core Responsibilities

Our client, located in North Haledon, NJ is a passionate team of highly skilled individuals devoted to improving the operational efficiencies of small to mid-sized organizations, specializing in the nonprofit sector. We work with our clients to create customized, affordable solutions to serve their bookkeeping and financial management needs.


Reporting to our client's Vice President, the Client Accounting Services Manager's main role will be managing his/her Team as well as managing relationships with various non-profit clients supported by our firm. The Client Accounting Services Manager will be the principal point of contact to clients for complex situations and assist his/her team in communicating the financial health of client organizations to the Executive Team and/or Board of Directors. This job is remote but candidates located near our North Haledon Office are welcome to meet the team in person.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

§ Provide clients with strategic fiscal guidance to improve and/or maintain the financial health of the organization

§ Monitor restricted grants and forecast spending to ensure compliance with funding organizations

§ Oversee preparation of and analyze/review financial statements on a monthly basis

§ Independently review and revamp a client’s financial reports when financial records have not been properly recorded

§ Coordinate reporting of key financial data with the Executive Team and/or Board of Directors

§ Prepare cash/accrual budgets and fiscal projections and present to client’s Executive Team and/or Board of Directors

§ Monitor the efficiency of work processes and make improvements when possible

§ Attend client Finance Committee meetings and/or Board of Directors meetings upon request

§ Communicate and present financial statements to the client’s Executive Team and/or Board of Directors on a monthly basis, highlighting and interpreting key information

§ Manage Quality Control prior to audit commencement and manage annual audits to ensure all required schedules are completed timely

§ Assist clients with the preparation of the Form 990, 1099s and other benefit, tax and regulatory schedules

§ Perform ad hoc accounting tasks on an as-needed basis


CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

§ Build and maintain strong relationships with Brand K clients; ensure clients have a positive experience with Brand K Partners

§ Maintain on-going contact with clients to manage expectations, trouble-shoot issues in a timely manner, assure quality customer service engagement and active monitoring of project work and deadlines

§ Actively participate in the new client onboarding process to ensure a clear understanding of the scope of work, client expectations, reporting requirements and points of organizational contact

§ Create project plan and systems integration documents for Brand K Team assigned to client

§ Independently review and revamp a client’s financials, operating systems and workflows to improve data quality, data accuracy and internal controls

§ Define potential areas of improvement and work to deliver solutions to meet client needs

§ Implement new systems including, but not limited to, Quickbooks Online, BILL, BILL Spend and Expense for current and new clients. Suggest and oversee system upgrades and conversions to meet client needs

§ Ensure project and system integrations are completed within agreed upon timeframes

§ Meet with each client and their key stakeholders at least twice a year to assess client satisfaction and understand current and future needs

§ Establish strategies to increase client retention / upsell and meet Brand K client retention metrics


TEAM MANAGEMENT

§ Provide training supervision and direction to team

§ Monitor staff workload, optimize team resources and assess future staffing needs to meet client requirements and staff retention metrics

§ Monitor scope of work as well as budgeted vs actual team hours to meet team profitability metrics. Enact staffing, systems and workflow changes as appropriate to maintain client satisfaction and Brand K profitability metrics

§ Foster open communication among team members by holding regular team meetings and bi-monthly individual meetings

§ Monitor monthly book closes/audits to ensure timely completion

§ Bi-monthly connection with each team member individually

§ Encourage team members’ professional development

§ Prepare employee mid-year and end-of-year performance review and professional development plans


COLLABORATIVE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

§ Contribute to Brand K revenue growth by managing client retention and expansion of additional needed services

§ Attend prospective client sales meetings to review client reporting/systems and assist in closing sales, as requested

§ Assist in defining client proposal, contract scope, pricing and maintain relationships with key providers and competitors


Qualifications/Skills

EDUCATION | SKILL REQUIREMENTS

§ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related area a plus

§ Minimum of 5 years of management experience within an Accounting or Finance department

§ Knowledge of nonprofit accounting required

§ Experience in a multi-client service environment strongly preferred

§ Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

§ Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, Sage and/or Fund-EZ
