Job description

Title: Fractional Controller
Location: NYC | Hybrid Schedule
Hourly Rate: $125 per hour
Status: ~ 5 hrs/wk ongoing, with last week of the month closer to 10 hrs/wk for monthly close-out of books

Our client is a NYC-based real estate developer, building a number of suburban projects. They are seeking to add a fractional controller to their team.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and provide input on company accounting functions and systems. Recommend sound financial controls are established and maintained
  • Manage month-end closing process and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled in a timely manner
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports. Review with owners
  • Prepare annual budget in conjunction with Company management. Prepare and monthly budget to actual reports: company and project level
  • Review monthly cash position and forecast. Review with owners
  • Provide oversite on bookkeeper in conjunction with project managers and prepare monthly requisitions to lender/investors, and insure invoices or purchase orders from vendors are being processed and paid.
  • Oversee accounts payable functions
  • Review and approve biweekly payroll. Work with payroll servicer/401k administrator to ensure accurate quarterly and annual tax reports
  • Coordinate with insurance agent to ensure proper health insurance coverage
  • Coordinate with tax accountant on annual tax returns.
Requirements/Skills:
  • BA/BS in business, finance, law, real estate, or related area of study
  • 8+ years experience in accounting, real estate, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Curiosity and creativity, with a drive to solve problems, improve and simplify designs, systems, and processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, responsive and timely communicator with clients, stakeholders, and team members
  • Excell and MS Office skills required.
  • Knowledge of Marks accounting system a plus, Buildtopia, Sage, Procore or similar development accounting platforms
The ideal candidate is late in their career has worked for a big accounting firm and ready for more flexibility.
