Job description
The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, an Accounting, Administrative Support, and Human Resouces firm located in New York! Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their finance team. The accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
This role is 100% Remote.
Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Financial Statements: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Reconciliation: Conduct bank reconciliations and reconcile accounts payable and receivable records.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor invoice processing and customer billing.
- Expense Management: Review and analyze expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and budgets.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial data and analysis to aid in decision-making.
- Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
- Audit Support: Collaborate with auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
- Record Maintenance: Organize and maintain financial records and documentation in a secure and organized manner.
- Reporting: Prepare various financial reports and ad-hoc analysis for management as required.
- Manage Jr accountants through delegating, reviewing and approving work, and training them on processes and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 year's experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Strong customer service skills
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance is a plus.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is advantageous.
- Quickbooks Required, Aplos Software is a plus
- Experience working with non-profit organizations is a plus
