Job description
We are located in Novato, California! We are looking for an Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team. The Assistant Bookkeeper is responsible for entering, categorizing, processing and preparing client data in a timely, friendly, and professional manner.
The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Accounting (or relevant degree), or a combination of experience for equivalence. The ideal candidate also has strong attention to detail, and superb communication and organization skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the monthly close process to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting including the preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Assist with downloading of client data, file management, and processing in accounting software
- Assist with the establishment, documentation and continuous improvement of all financial processes, workflows and forms
- Assist in Profit and Loss report, expenses, and account receivables
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
Qualifications/Skills:
- BS in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
- QBO and Microsoft Excel experience required (and Xero experience is a plus!)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Friendly and timely communication
- Experience working with small business owners is also a plus
