Job description

Our Customer is a technology company that connects people with the best of their neighborhoods across the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Germany. They enable local businesses to meet consumers’ needs of ease and convenience, and, in turn, generate new ways for people to earn, work, and live. By building the last-mile logistics infrastructure for local commerce, they’re fulfilling our mission to grow and empower local economies.

Our Customer is seeking an On-Site Staff Shift Lead on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in Chicago, IL.

This role owns real-time coordination of OSS, ensuring shifts are properly staffed, issues are resolved quickly, and communication flows seamlessly between the field and central operations. You are the “control tower” during your shift — responsible for keeping operations running smoothly and stepping in when things go off track.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign team members to shifts and ensure full coverage across all active operations
  • Monitor attendance, lateness, and no-shows; take immediate corrective action
  • Backfill staffing gaps in real time through reassignment or escalation
  • Oversee real-time operations and troubleshoot issues such as delays, setup challenges, or participant concerns
  • Escalate critical issues with clear context and recommended solutions
  • Serve as the primary communication hub for all shift-related coordination
  • Respond promptly to team questions, updates, and issues
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Support, Launch) to ensure smooth execution
  • Ensure team members clearly understand assignments, locations, and responsibilities
  • Maintain proactive, clear, and timely communication across all stakeholders
  • Resolve issues quickly and efficiently, minimizing the need for escalation
  • Deliver a seamless and well-coordinated on-site participant experience

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in operations, logistics, hospitality, or similar fast-paced environments
  • Strong real-time decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously in a dynamic environment
  • Highly reliable, responsive, and detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in dispatch, shift scheduling, or gig workforce management
  • Familiarity with last-mile logistics or on-demand operations

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Contractor benefits are available through our 3rd Party Employer of Record (Available upon completion of waiting period for eligible engagements)

Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k.
