- Remote
Job description
Our Customer is an American financial services and digital payments company based in San Francisco, California. They’re working to help their diverse audiences — sellers, individuals, artists, fans, developers, and all the people in between — overcome barriers to access the economy.
We are seeking a highly motivated Order Management Specialist on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.
This role is responsible for owning the purchase order (PO) lifecycle for hardware products, serving as the centralized point of accountability for all open orders across supplier and retail channels. Responsibilities include ensuring purchase orders accurately reflect forecast demand, tracking contractual obligations, and closing orders in a timely and compliant manner.
This is a highly hands-on position involving the translation of SKU-level cost and forecast data into purchase orders, managing mid-cycle adjustments, and maintaining visibility into inventory positioning and vendor performance. The role also oversees the retail PO portfolio, ensuring sufficient inventory levels relative to demand and obligations, and validating retailer-owned inventory prior to PO approval.
Additional responsibilities include leading efforts to clean up open PO backlogs to release committed funds and improve financial accuracy.
This position sits within the Supply/Demand Management (SDM) function, which owns the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and is driving purchase order automation initiatives. The role partners closely with automation efforts by defining requirements and supporting the transition from manual PO entry to automated, recurring PO processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end purchase order processes across hardware suppliers and retail channels
- Translate SKU-level cost data into purchase orders based on forecasts and master production schedules
- Adjust purchase orders mid-cycle based on changes in forecast and demand volumes
- Review and track purchase orders received from retailers and collaborate with supply planners to determine approval based on inventory positions
- Audit and clean up legacy open purchase orders while establishing processes to prevent future backlogs
- Maintain a centralized view of open orders, inventory levels, and supplier commitments
- Identify and flag risks such as excess inventory, outdated purchase orders, and forecast misalignment
- Partner with internal systems and operations teams to support purchase order automation initiatives
- Identify manual workflows and recommend system-driven improvements or process eliminations
- Contribute to ERP system enhancements, including reporting automation and access improvements
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in order management, procurement operations, or supply chain planning
- Experience managing purchase orders within ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of the purchase order lifecycle, including creation, modification, receipt, closure, and reconciliation
- Ability to interpret forecast data and translate demand signals into actionable purchase orders
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of SKUs and suppliers simultaneously
- Experience communicating with suppliers and handling order reconciliation processes
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to collaborate across supply chain, finance, and operations teams
