Paralegal (100% Remote)

A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract Paralegal to help support their business needs.

The main function of a paralegal is to assist lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts, or preparing legal documents. A typical paralegal is responsible for conducting research to support a legal proceeding, formulating a defense, or initiating legal action.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare correspondence and legal documents, including summonses, complaints, motions, responses, and subpoenas under attorney or paralegal supervision
• Conduct legal research and review legal journals
• Assist attorneys with collecting employment, medical, and other case-related records
• Assist with preparing legal documents for court submission
• Attend client interviews, hearings, depositions, and other legal meetings and take notes
• Organize and maintain legal documents, law libraries, and case files
• Prepare and process legal documents, including summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and pretrial agreements

Skills and Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent training
• 0-2 years of related experience
• Basic knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, and the legal process
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Hours and Location:

• M-F, 40 hours/week
• 100% remote
