Job description
A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract Paralegal to help support their business needs.
The main function of a paralegal is to assist lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts, or preparing legal documents. A typical paralegal is responsible for conducting research to support a legal proceeding, formulating a defense, or initiating legal action.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents, including summonses, complaints, motions, responses, subpoenas, appeals, and pretrial agreements, under attorney or paralegal supervision
- Assist with legal research, including reviewing legal journals and relevant case materials
- Support attorneys in collecting and organizing employment, medical, and other records
- Attend legal meetings, client interviews, hearings, and depositions to take notes and document key information
- Organize and maintain legal libraries, case files, and documentation systems
- Assist with preparing court submission documents and ensuring proper formatting and compliance
- Provide administrative and documentation support to legal teams
Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent training required
- 0-2 years of related experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Basic knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or practical experience in a legal office environment
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and document management systems
Hours and Location:
- M-F, 40 hours/week
- 100% remote
