Job description

A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract Paralegal to help support their business needs.


The main function of a paralegal is to assist lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts, or preparing legal documents. A typical paralegal is responsible for conducting research to support a legal proceeding, formulate a defense or to initiate legal action.



Responsibilities:

  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents including summonses, complaints, motions, responses, subpoenas, appeals, and pretrial agreements under attorney or paralegal supervision
  • Conduct legal research and review legal journals and related materials
  • Assist attorneys and legal teams in gathering employment, medical, and other case-related records
  • Attend legal meetings, client interviews, hearings, and depositions and document detailed notes
  • Organize and maintain legal files, case records, law libraries, and supporting documentation
  • Process and manage legal paperwork for court submissions and case preparation
  • Support new legal staff with document preparation and court submission processes as needed


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent legal training required
  • 0–2 years of relevant legal or paralegal experience required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Basic knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


Hours and Location:

  • M-F, 40 hours/week
  • 100% remote
