Job description
Our Customer is an endoscope manufacturer, offering systems for human and veterinary medicine as well as for industrial applications. They are headquartered in El Segundo, California.
Our Customer is seeking a Paralegal on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is hybrid in El Segundo, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Assist counsel with a broad range of employment law matters, including immigration, recruitment and hiring, compensation and benefits, wage and hour, leaves of absence, accommodations, discrimination and harassment, performance management, discipline, termination, workplace safety, and government audits
- Track immigration petitions and applications (e.g., USCIS), monitor case progress, and ensure timely submission of required documentation
- Support maintenance of corporate books and records
- Provide litigation support, including managing legal case files, coordinating with internal and external partners, gathering evidence, and conducting document reviews
- Draft objections and responses to subpoenas and requests for employment records
- Prepare document preservation notices and manage employment law document preservation systems
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and updating contracts, policies, procedures, handbooks, and agreements
- Conduct legal research on various employment law topics
- Support outside counsel engagement, including invoice review, budget tracking, and legal operations coordination
- Assist with special projects and other legal or administrative duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal or equivalent in an in-house legal department or top law firm
- Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law and employment-based petition processes
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong administrative and legal drafting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong judgment, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with outside counsel and cross-functional stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Teams) and ability to learn new systems quickly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic discovery (eDiscovery) in litigation or investigations
- Experience with project management or change management initiatives
