Job description
The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, a small, boutique personal injury practice with four very experienced trial lawyers, located in Coconut Grove, Miami, FL! They are looking for a Legal Secretary/Paralegal to join their team. The Legal Secretary/Paralegal will be supporting the firm by preparing legal documents, managing diaries, and utilizing clerical skills to assist the legal team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be bilingual (English, Spanish and/or Creole preferred), and be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent emergencies.
Core responsibilities
- Communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, opposing party, and/or third parties
- Maintaining client database and files
- Managing complex calendars for multiple attorneys including scheduling meetings, depositions, mediations, and other necessary appointments
- Calculating and calendaring case related deadlines, especially court-ordered deadlines
- Preparing legal documents, memos, emails, and other written correspondence on behalf of the attorneys
- Assisting with substantial components of a broad range of litigation and trial preparation matters
Qualifications/Skills
- Previous work experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal (5+ years preferred, 2+ years minimum)
- Bilingual in English, Spanish and/or Creole strongly preferred
- Expertise in legal document preparation
- Experience in litigation/trial prep
- Proficiency in legal terminology, document preparation, and court procedures
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail, punctuation, spelling and grammar
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, and handle time-sensitive documents and confidential information
- Ability to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment
Compensation negotiable based on experience. This is a full-time, on-site role.
