The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience working with small businesses & and startups doing month-end close processes, be well versed in GAAP accounting (accrual-based accounting, deferred revenue, revenue recognition, inventory, cost of goods old), a desire to understand the fundamentals of startup fundraising (convertible notes, SAFE notes, equity), have experience running payroll & be willing to learn on the job.
You must be able to work efficiently remotely! There is huge room for growth with our company for long-term focused individuals.
This is a part-time 15-20 hours per week (Monday-Friday). We are looking for a self-starter who takes responsibility for closes.
Purpose of this Role
Senior Accountant/ Full Charge Bookkeeper, you will partner with our clients by supporting the month-end close process, financial reporting, and audit compliance. In this role, you will and/or support a team of individuals managing the day to day responsibilities related to the financial close.
Responsibilities
- As a Senior Accountant, you will partner with our clients & staff by supporting the month-end close process, financial reporting, and strategy calls.
- In this role, you may have the opportunity to lead and/or support a team of individuals to implement process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
- Support month-end close process, including maintaining the general ledger and sub-ledgers, reviews journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as well as analyze account variances
- Communicate and follow up with business partners to ensure that open/outstanding issues are resolved in a timely manner
- The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and strong financial analysis skills that seeks to improve existing processes as we scale our business while collaborating with Sales, Product, Finance, and Technology to serve as a trusted business partner in cross functional capacities
- Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliation schedules by reviewing the general ledger activity and obtaining a full understanding of the account activity to support month-end reported balances
- Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Ad hoc projects, reporting, and analysis as needed
Qualifications
- BS in Accounting/Finance or related field required or equivalent experience. Candidates must pass an accounting test prior to joining or firm - you must have a strong GAAP accounting foundation to succeed at this job.
- 3+ years of experience working with startups or small businesses.
- MUST have 3+ years QBO experience.
- Strongly preferred experience running payroll - Trinet, ADP, Gusto, Justworks.
- Technology-focused - Proficiency in Google Sheets, Front, Slack, and Bill.com experience preferred.
- CPA candidate a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with a strong orientation to client service, time management, and project delivery
