We are seeking an Accounting Assistant on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is on-site in Eden Prairie, MN.
The Bookkeeper provides accounting and financial support for the property management team and serves as a key member of the management group. This role supports a multi-tenant retail mall environment and reports to the Senior General Manager. The Bookkeeper partners closely with the Property Accountant to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
Hours: Approximately 28 hours per week
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable
- Make collection calls to tenants
- Enter cash receipts into the accounting system
- Enter billing adjustments as needed
- Perform tenant ledger reconciliations
Accounts Payable
- Enter vendor invoices
- Ensure proper audit trail and supporting documentation
Lease Analysis
- Review leases and leasing activity to ensure accurate tenant billing
- Review and calculate additional tenant charges as applicable
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain and track tenant sales information
- Collect and enter sales reports into the accounting system
- Maintain vendor, sales, and financial files
- Assist the Property Accountant as needed
- Perform additional accounting or administrative tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree in accounting preferred
- 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience preferred
- Retail real estate or multi-tenant property experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with real estate accounting software preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and recurring accounting tasks independently
Preferred:
- Prior real estate accounting experience
- Experience working in multi-tenant retail or shopping mall environments
