Job description

Part-time Controller

We are a relationship-based private equity real estate investment firm focused on providing above-market returns while creating social impact and conscious capitalism. Our investment platform is diversified across both debt and equity, emphasizing multifamily workforce housing communities across Texas and other select markets.

This position would fit a CPA who is looking to work 20 hours a week, is curious, enjoys learning new technologies, and wants to continue their career growth while juggling other commitments. This is a part-time position with both flexibility and the opportunity to grow into a full-time position if desired. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

General Duties:

  • Treasury Management
  • Oversee accounting for equity partnerships and Thrive Lending Fund II.
  • Assist in Tax Planning/Coordination of Returns

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide treasury management for Thrive and its affiliates including:
    • Execute transfers among accounts.
    • Draft outgoing wires for company, partnerships and investors.
    • Verify funds received from investors for new acquisitions and capital calls.
    • Upload ACH and check transactions for investor distribution payments using Investor Portal (Juniper Square.)
    • Prepare outgoing payments using our electronic banking system.
    • Deposit all checks received in office.
    • Track and calculate asset management fees due to team members and execute monthly payments. Communicate calculations to team members.
  • Oversee the preparation of partnership financial statements
    • Review quarterly equity partnership financials prepared by third parties and confirm all activity is correctly reflected.
    • Review monthly Thrive Lending Fund financials prepared by our third-party fund administrator. Gain proficiency in mortgage servicing software to assist in Fund Accounting.
  • Interact with Investor Relations Team to problem solve investor questions.
  • Assist in the annual preparation of multiple tax returns as needed by Thrive CFO and Tax Manager.

Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred
  • 4-6 years of accounting experience
