About Oliver Charles
Oliver Charles is a premium knitwear brand. We make high-quality, sustainable sweaters using unique materials like yak wool and SeaCell (seaweed yarn), manufactured in the USA. We're a small team focused on creating clothing that becomes an integral part of our customers' lives.
The Role
Oliver Charles is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented candidate to manage fulfillment and inventory in our Boston office. You'll work independently (alongside the company founder) in our warehouse and office space, where we store and ship our inventory.
When a customer opens their order, it's often their first physical interaction with our brand. Your job is to make sure that experience reflects the quality and care we put into everything we do.
What You'll Do
Order Fulfillment:
- Pick, pack, and ship customer orders
- Print and apply shipping labels
- Include the correct promotional inserts with each order
- Fold and package items to our quality standards
Returns & Quality Control:
- Inspect returned items for stains, odors, snagging, or other damage
- Make decisions on whether items can be restocked or need to be removed from inventory
- Repackage and organize approved returns into inventory
- Photograph used previously owned inventory for our second-hand online store
Inventory Management:
- Receive and process new shipments
- Count and organize stock
- Keep the workspace clean and organized
- Store items in the correct locations
What We're Looking For
You are highly organized and care about getting things right. Attention to detail in this role means:
- Maintaining and creating an organized system for fulfilling orders and processing inventory.
- Verifying each order matches what the customer ordered (correct color, size, style)
- Making sure labels are straight and legible
- Folding items cleanly and consistently
- Catching issues during returns inspection (spots, pulls, odors) and fulfillment.
- Counting inventory accurately
- Putting items in the right storage boxes
- Keeping your workspace tidy and organized
- Being reliable and showing up when you say you will
Requirements:
- Reliability: You're comfortable working independently and holding yourself accountable
- Physical capability: Comfortable standing for extended periods (typically 4-7 hours) and lifting boxes up to 30-40 lbs (no ladder work required)
- Tech comfort: Basic computer skills required. Experience with Shopify, Easyship, ShipStation, or similar platforms is a plus, but we'll train the right person
- Ability to take clear, well-lit photos (smartphone is fine)
- Experience: Fulfillment or warehouse experience is helpful but not required. We'll train you on everything you need to know
- Must live in the Greater Boston area and be able to get to South Boston at least 3 times a week.
Why This Fits Your Life
- Flexible schedule: We need about 20 hours per week. The hours you work are up to you as long as the job gets done. We can accommodate school schedules, other commitments, or part-time work, provided the work is completed reliably.
- Small team environment: You'll work directly with the founder in a focused, low-stress setting
- Easy commute: we are an easy walk from the 7, 9, and 10 bus lines. Ample street parking is available as well.
- Hands-on work: If you're looking to balance desk work with something more physical, or just want to get out of the house a few days a week, this is ideal!
- Part-time income: Perfect for students, parents, freelancers, or anyone looking for steady part-time income.
