Job description
Property Accountant
$35-50/hour
20-25 hours/week
100% Remote

Overview and Skills
Technical Accounting Strength
- Solid understanding of GAAP, accrual-based accounting, and multi-entity property structures.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of property accounting experience (senior living, multifamily, or related preferred).
Systems & Tools Mastery
- Strong Excel and Power Query skills required.
- Experience with reconciliation tools (ReconArt or similar) strongly preferred.
- Comfortable learning and adapting to new accounting/ERP systems quickly.
Mindset & Soft Skills
- Problem solver who digs in until the issue is resolved.
- Self-learner who doesn’t wait for someone to tell them how to do it.
- Clear communicator—able to explain technical accounting results to non-accountants.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, but able to keep the big picture in focus.
Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Reporting
- Manage full-cycle month-end close for assigned properties (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial reporting).
- Deliver timely, accurate property-level financials to clients and leadership.
Reconciliations & Systems
- Maintain and reconcile GL accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany balances.
- Use reconciliation automation tools (ReconArt or similar) and Excel/Power Query to streamline processes.
- Identify breaks quickly and resolve root causes—not just symptoms.
- Revenue & Rent Roll Integration
- Work closely with rent roll data and revenue reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy between GL postings and property-level reporting.
- Support analysis between resident lease rates and GL revenue.
- Problem Solving & Process Improvement
- Troubleshoot accounting discrepancies, implement fixes, and improve efficiency of recurring processes.
- Develop repeatable, scalable solutions—never settle for “we’ve always done it this way.”
Collaboration
- Partner with operations and property managers to explain results and variances.
- Serve as the go-to accounting contact for property-level questions.
