Job description

Our customer is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They help researchers make new discoveries, doctors and nurses improve the lives of patients, and lawyers develop winning strategies. They prevent online fraud and money laundering and help insurance companies evaluate and predict risk. Their events combine in-person and digital experiences to help customers learn about markets, source products and complete transactions. In short, they enable customers to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive.


We are seeking a contract State and Local Government Attorney to help draft content (practical guidance, practice notes, annotated forms, and checklists/templates) on state and local government topics. This role is 100% remote.


The major focus will be on drafting long articles, forms, and checklists for counsel practicing in this area, with the ability to draft pro-state and local government counsel content, as well, particularly in the real estate realm (eminent domain issues, zoning) and retirement plans for state and local employees. Should have recent, first-hand knowledge of the regulatory requirements facing counsel or other practitioners in this area.


Part-time, 20 hours/week



Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop, edit, and/or write practical guidance on state and local issues
  • Draft, review, and annotate relevant form documents and checklists
  • Monitor developments for trends/news
  • Update existing content to reflect new developments


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school, active/retired bar membership, and in good standing in at least one state
  • 3+ years of experience in state and local government issues
  • Experience with laws regarding state and local government is a big plus
  • Excellent writing, editing, and online legal research skills are a must
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Word, Excel, and conducting online research
  • Strong practical writer with the ability to write effectively and concisely
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
