Job description

Details:

  • Part-Time, Temp to Perm
  • 1099 Contract with a 90-day trial period is required as we ensure it is a good fit for both
  • Location: Northbrook, IL (in-office)
  • Hours: can range from 15-25
  • Hourly starting at $25-35 depending on experience

The Mom Project is excited to partner with a tax / accounting firm who is passionate about working with small business owners and offer the accounting and tax services to address today’s financial challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s opportunities, located in Northbrook, IL! They are looking to add an Tax Accountant to their team. The ideal candidate will be extremely detail oriented, creative, energetic, curious, and born to multitask.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review individual returns, partnership returns, corporate returns, fiduciary returns,
  • Some gift and estate tax returns, complex schedule K1 reporting for alternate investments, and multi-state reporting
  • Accurately prepare appropriate journal entries, tax accruals and reconcile retained earnings and analyze general ledgers
  • Interact with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients
  • Analyze client general ledgers and suggest reclassifications and adjustments
  • Expand technical skills in the taxation and reporting of high net worth individuals
  • Understand tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Conduct tax research to develop effective tax planning strategies
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Preparing books and records for quarterly financial statements using QuickBooks desktop and online versions
  • Payroll and sales tax returns including W2’s and 1099’s


Administrative Skills:

  • Manage time efficiently in order to meet appropriate charge hour goals and accurately describe work performed
  • Assume management of engagements
  • Develop administrative, professional and interpersonal skills to better service clients
  • Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision


Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Tax
  • 2+ years recent US public accounting experience with an emphasis in taxation
  • Understanding of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Experience with individual and corporate returns
  • Intermediate technical proficiency in tax software applications. We use Ultra Tax
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CPA or EA certification preferred
