Job description
Patient Liaison
100% Remote | 1099 - 9 Month Contract | 20hrs/week | $20-$30/hr based on experience & location
About Our Client
Our client is a physician-led dermatology group on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, bringing together established, trusted practices. Their team provides the support and systems that help each practice deliver a thoughtful, consistent patient experience. As a small, growing organization, they’re building a collaborative team committed to high-quality care.
Why Work for Our Client
Join a growing, physician-led dermatology group where your work can make a meaningful difference in the patient experience. As a Patient Liaison, you’ll partner directly with physicians and leadership, share ideas, and help shape how the organization supports its patients. With new locations on the horizon, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the group’s growth and make an impact as it expands. This fully remote, 9-month contract offers the potential for extension, along with the flexibility to create your own schedule within Eastern Time business hours.
Responsibilities
- Run the patient recall program: identify patients due for follow-up, annual skin checks, or treatment continuation; conduct outreach by phone, text, and email; book appointments and track conversion
- Handle non-medical patient follow-up, including appointment confirmations, missed-visit outreach, and general questions about scheduling, forms, and policies
- Resolve billing questions and balance inquiries; explain statements, collect outstanding balances, and set up payment plans within policy
- Manage refund requests and card disputes (chargebacks), including gathering documentation, responding within processor deadlines, and coordinating with finance on approvals
- Support schedule optimization by filling cancellations from waitlists, flagging underused provider time, and rebooking patients to balance templates across providers and locations
- Escalate any clinical questions to the appropriate clinical staff and document all interactions in the EHR/PM system
- Track and report weekly on recall volume, appointments booked, balances collected, and dispute outcomes
Qualifications
- 2+ years in a medical practice front office, patient access, or billing role; dermatology or specialty practice experience preferred
- Working knowledge of insurance basics (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, EOBs) and patient balance collections
- Experience with practice management or EHR systems (ModMed, Nextech, or similar) and payment processors
- Familiarity with chargeback and refund processes is a strong plus
- Strong phone presence; comfortable with outbound calling and with patients who are frustrated about a bill
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the discipline to work a call list and hit weekly targets without close supervision
- Clear understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy in a remote setting; a private, quiet workspace and reliable internet are required
- Available during business hours in Eastern Time
