Payment Recovery Specialist
Payment Recovery Specialist
Our Client - Technology company
- Remote
Job description
About the Client
They build software that helps marketing and sales teams create interactive product demos that prospects can explore on their own. The category leader in Demo Automation, they work with fast-growing B2B companies that rely on high-quality experiences to tell their product story.
They are a remote-first team that values clarity, ownership, and execution. Revenue operations are an important part of how they keep the business healthy, and they take a practical, detail-oriented approach to getting things done.
About the Role
They are looking for a driven, creative Payments Collection Specialist to manage outreach to overdue accounts and move them toward resolution. This is not a passive accounts-receivable function. It requires persistence, creativity, and strong communication instincts.
You will own the full outreach cycle for past-due accounts: from the first touchpoint through final resolution. You will develop multi-step sequences, personalize outreach by account context, and find the right combination of channels and messaging to get responses and collect payment.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized and systematic, but also resourceful and comfortable going off-script when a situation calls for it.
What You'll Do
Outreach and Collections
- Own the full outreach cycle for overdue accounts, from first notice through payment confirmation or escalation
- Build and execute multi-touchpoint sequences across email, phone, and other channels to maximize response rates
- Personalize messaging by account size, relationship history, and overdue duration rather than relying on generic templates
- Identify the right contact at each account (finance, ops, or the original champion) and route outreach accordingly
- Experiment with subject lines, send times, and messaging angles to continuously improve open and response rates
- Follow up persistently without burning the relationship, maintaining a professional and solution-oriented tone throughout
Account Management and Documentation
- Maintain a clean, up-to-date tracker of all overdue accounts, outreach history, and status
- Log all communication attempts and outcomes accurately in the CRM or collections tracker
- Flag accounts that require escalation, legal review, or write-off consideration, with supporting documentation
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (finance, CS, account management) when account context is needed to unblock payment
Process and Creative Problem Solving
- Develop and refine outreach playbooks based on what is working across different account segments
- Propose payment plan options or alternative arrangements when full payment collection is unlikely upfront
- Identify patterns in overdue accounts (timing, segment, payment method) and surface insights to the team
- Suggest process improvements that reduce future delinquency, such as proactive reminders or clearer billing communication
Qualifications
- Experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a high-volume outbound communications role
- Strong written communication skills with an ability to be direct without being off-putting
- Comfortable running multi-step outreach sequences and tracking progress systematically
- Self-directed and able to manage a queue of accounts independently without close oversight
- Calm under pressure and solution-oriented when accounts push back or go unresponsive
- Reliable follow-through with attention to detail in record keeping
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
- Experience collecting from B2B SaaS accounts or subscription-based billing environments
- Familiarity with CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce) or dedicated AR platforms
- Background in customer success, revenue operations, or finance-adjacent roles
- Experience designing or iterating on outreach sequences and cadences
Role Details
- Type: Contract / Part-Time
- Location: Remote
- Schedule: Flexible hours, with responsiveness expected during standard business hours for follow-ups
- Focus: Outreach execution and payment collection (not billing strategy or accounting)
Why This Role Works Well for the Right Person
- Clear, measurable scope: success is defined by accounts resolved and payments collected
- Flexible, project-based structure with the ability to ramp up as the queue grows
- Ownership from day one with room to build and improve the process over time
- Work that directly contributes to the financial health of a fast-growing, category-leading SaaS company
