Job description

We are seeking a Payroll Clerk to join our team for ~20 hrs/wk.

Payroll Management:

  1. Handle multi-state payroll for 35+ employees, including some international payroll.
  2. Perform audits, payroll journal entries, and month-end reconciliations.
  3. Manage 401K reporting, ESOP reporting, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, payroll taxes, and month/year-end close activities.

Data Compilation and Processing:

  1. Compile and enter payroll data, compute and post wages, and reconcile errors to maintain accurate payroll records.
  2. Monitor computer reports, alert appropriate personnel to problems or errors, troubleshoot, and reconcile errors.

Record Maintenance:

  1. Prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files, compute wages and deductions, and post to payroll records.
  2. Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee, to update master payroll records.
  3. Record data concerning the transfer of employees between departments.
  4. Process wage garnishments and direct deposits as needed.
  5. Process W-2 forms for employees at the end of each calendar year.

Payroll:

  1. Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  2. Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
  3. Prepare and issue paychecks.
  4. Knowledge in systems such as Oyster, Rippling, Quickbooks online.

Collaboration:

  1. Work with the CFO and Accountant on special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience in payroll processing, including multi-state and international payroll.
  2. Proficiency in payroll software and computer systems.
  3. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
