Job description
Our Customer is an American financial services and digital payments company based in San Francisco, California. They’re working to help their diverse audiences — sellers, individuals, artists, fans, developers, and all the people in between — overcome barriers to access the economy.
We are seeking a Payroll Tax Accountant on a contract basis who will support the Customer’s business needs. This role is 100% remote.
What You'll Do:
- Be an expert at resolving complex payroll issues and assessments that come through service cloud, ensuring the customer’s questions are answered in an accurate, efficient and timely manner
- Documenting, improving, and scaling the tax escalations team by implementing process automation and reducing common customer issues
- Identify, document, and solve issues that may arise as a result of customer error or product bugs/limitations
- Identify gaps in policies and inefficiencies in how we work together and collaborate with sales, support, tax operations and product to define and implement improvements
- Work with Federal and State tax agencies to resolve any customer tax issues
- Escalate matters with key stakeholders
- Initially 3 months, with potential to be extended up to 18 months
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, tax, business, or equivalent
- 2-4 years of experience in tax and or payroll tax, experience with federal and state payroll tax filings a plus
- Tax escalation experience
- Excellent skills in time management, de-escalation, composure, and prioritization
- Experience in amended tax return preparation with high attention to detail

- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Must be a MacBook user
