Job description
Our customer is a leading global media and entertainment company that creates and distributes a large portfolio of content and brands across television, film, and streaming and is available in over 200 countries and territories and over 45 languages. Headquartered in New York, NY with more than 30 office locations in the United States.
Our customer is seeking a People and Culture Coordinator on a contract basis to maintain the human resource records of their employees. This role is also responsible for maintaining personnel documents as well as performing background checks, along with other employee-related activities. This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in New York City.
Responsibilities:
- Process, verify, and maintain documentation related to personnel activities, including staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and classifications.
- Process and review employment applications to evaluate applicant qualifications and eligibility.
- Record employee data, including addresses, weekly earnings, and supervisory performance reports.
- Answer questions regarding examinations, eligibility, salaries, benefits, and other employment-related information.
- Request information from law enforcement officials, previous employers, and references to determine the applicant's employment acceptability.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in HR or a related field.
- Experience with HR systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to keep information organized and confidential.
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
- Collaborative mindset.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with limited day-to-day direction.
- HR experience with an interest in people operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday.
- Retail industry experience.
