Job description
The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, an online retail shop selling hand-made vintage and antique rugs, located in Washington. D.C. This role's hours will be driven by the demands of the business, likely requiring 1-3 in-person work "efforts" throughout the week that can largely be scheduled around the applicant's availability (weekdays or week nights), making this a perfect, reliable side-hustle. They are looking for a personal assistant to support core business operations including inventory management, office organization, shipping, and vendor coordination and communications. Candidates with professional photography experience who are capable of taking product photos of rugs and editing these photos for use on the website are strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate has a love of design, is highly detail-oriented, is an excellent communicator, and has a drivers license and car that can be used for rug-related tasks.
Core responsibilities
- Unwrap, organize, and label new rugs upon arrival and load necessary information into inventory management system (via phone or computer). (This can be done at the applicant's home or rug storage unit)
- Coordinate with vendors and local designers as needed to drop off or pick up rugs in a timely manner (using applicant's car)
- Travel to storage unit as required to unload and organize rugs, or to wrap rugs that have sold (2-3x a week maximum)
- Lift and carry rugs as required (rugs weigh anywhere from 4 - 60 lbs)
- Coordinate Delivery driver pick-up for rugs ready to shipment
- Coordinate other one-off errands or administrative requests with rug store owner as needed
- Manage any facility needs (ordering more shipping supplies, cleaning)
- If also serving as a photographer, photograph rugs in natural light (e.g. outside) year-round and edit/resize photos in photoshop to prepare them for listing to the website
Qualifications/Skills
- Drivers license and access to a car required
- Product photography experience strongly preferred
- No express experience in design, retail, or inventory/logistics management required, but interest is a plus
- Proven track record of managing detail-oriented tasks according to stated policies/procedures
- Exemplary planning and time management skills
- Comfort working with web and mobile applications as the job requires
- High level verbal and written communications skills
