We are seeking a Procurement Specialist on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in San Diego, CA. Manager will consider remote candidates who can work Pacific Time Zone hours.


This position will play a pivotal role in optimizing the organization's procurement operations, overseeing and enhancing the quality of procurement requests and the accurate and efficient sourcing of commodities. This position demands exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills, and superior communication abilities.


The successful candidate will have extensive experience in advanced procurement

functions, including strategic supplier management, complex sourcing triage, robust quality

assurance frameworks, sophisticated third-party risk management, and advanced

procurement systems.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight of purchase requisition and purchase order change request quality control
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives across procurement operations
  • Lead advanced sourcing triaging across categories, including technology, marketing, services, media, global suppliers, and new suppliers
  • Mentor and train procurement operations teams and buy desk advisors
  • Validate and optimize procurement requests to ensure compliance with SOX regulations and internal policies
  • Conduct detailed contract reviews, including contract value, item type, currency, service dates, payment terms, and billing accuracy
  • Build strong relationships with sourcing managers to understand commodity-specific nuances and exceptions
  • Partner with supplier data management teams to ensure accurate supplier and pay site setup
  • Implement and oversee quality checks to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
  • Collaborate with technology teams to resolve interface errors using issue tracking systems
  • Provide aging and status reports for procurement requests across multiple systems
  • Guide requesters through procurement submission processes and provide ongoing support
  • Oversee and refine sourcing triage workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Validate data across dashboards and recommend reporting and process improvements
  • Review procurement requests for required information and apply advanced triage tagging
  • Assign risk and sourcing ownership based on strategic taxonomy reviews
  • Use reporting insights to drive sourcing project assignments and strategic decisions
  • Maintain end-to-end accountability for procurement request lifecycle


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • High sense of ownership with proactive follow-up and accountability
  • Ability to work with urgency and integrate quickly into evolving workflows
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment, and complex problem-solving abilities
  • Strategic mindset with experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Adaptability and resilience during organizational and process transformations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred:

  • Extensive experience using Coupa procurement systems
  • Extensive experience in sourcing and procurement operations
