Product Counsel

The position will focus on providing strategic legal counseling to internal product, operations, and business teams in order to identify and mitigate global legal risk. The role will work closely with other legal department subgroups and will require creating and applying legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services. Location: The team is currently remote and do not have concrete plans yet to return to the office. However, candidates must be located near a physical office in the event offices do open up:

Responsibilities:

• Analyze products, policies and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
• Provide product, engineering, and other business teams with legal advice across many subject areas including data protection laws and regulations, international competition law frameworks, intellectual property laws, and other global legal frameworks
• Help drive consensus and coordinate with public policy, partnerships, communications and other cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary issues
• Work cross functionally with attorneys from other legal teams such as privacy, regulatory, commercial, and litigation

Minimum Qualifications:

• J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
• 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in-house at a technology company
• Privacy, competition, and/or IP experience (law firm and/or in-house)
• Prior experience as a Product Counsel is a huge plus
