Job description
The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a contract Product Designer.
Job Description:
Uncover insights to design Etsy's agent tooling experience: simplifying workflows, driving efficiency, and improving the quality of support.
What’s the role?
Our Agent Tooling team aims to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable tooling solutions to support all of Etsy’s agents. We build systems that enable Etsy’s future growth of outsourcing solutions, while building processes that drive cost efficiency for their business and that establish trust and accountability in their customers.
This designer will craft Etsy’s first agent tooling experience that all of their internal and outsourced agents will use to drive efficiency and deliver high quality customer experiences for users. You will work in a 0-1 space to define and craft tooling solutions that will increase productivity, collaboration, and quality across many problem spaces at Etsy. The team will look to you to streamline and improve the day-to-day workflows across thousands of agents, enabling them to draw insights that help optimize and build improved experiences for their customers!
We are looking for someone who can work closely with a team of cross-functional partners in product management, engineering, research, and analytics. You will collaborate and lead with multidisciplinary partners including operations partners to contribute to the overall vision for the Etsy Tooling Team!
You’ll work closely with the Senior Product Design Manager to prioritize the most impactful projects while ensuring you have the focus, clarity, and time to deliver high-quality design work.
What is Product Design at Etsy?
Typically, product designers at Etsy work in a squad with a product manager, 3-5 engineers, researcher, and analyst. Together, they drive their own part of Etsy, deliver solutions to challenging problems, and get feedback directly from agents and customers.
Day to day, it looks like:
- Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
- Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
- Working closely with product managers and engineers to establish product requirements
- Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and how to iterate
- Presenting your work to peers and leadership, async and in-person
- Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands, and squad meetings
- Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions
Senior level at Etsy means:
- You can run independently or give direction to designers within your team
- You can lead workshops and effectively align the group around a vision and approach
- You have a track record of designing complex flows and customer journeys
- You can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
- You’ll regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, negotiating, decision-making
- Bonus: You have previous experience designing for complex internal tooling systems and workflows
Qualities we value in designers:
- Effective articulation of ideas and design solutions
- Expressing feedback with kindness and candor
- Tolerance for ambiguity and healthy curiosity
- Translation of quantitative & qualitative insights into design decisions
- Contribution to our culture: motivation, optimism, quality, integrity
