Film and Production Accountant
- 100% Remote Role
- Flexible role - approx. 5 - 10 hours / week to start, then will slow to ~ 10 hours / month
- Hiring manager is also open to this being a monthly retainer position for the right candidate
- $40 - $50 / hr, based on experience
- Prior accounting experience in the Film Industry strongly preferred, but also open to candidates who have a strong background in accounting
- Preference for candidates in CT, but open to right candidate throughout the US
We are looking for a bookkeeper and production accountant for our CT based production company. We are located in CT and someone in the state would be preferred but the role is primarily if not exclusively remote. The Accountant is responsible for preparing financial information for management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing financial reports.
The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Accounting (or relevant degree), has strong attention to detail, and superb analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate books on a monthly basis.
- Assist in preparing movie production accounting for tax credit audit.
- Assist in the monthly close process to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting including the preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Assist with preparation for year-end audit, and schedule requests of external auditors
- Assist with the establishment, documentation and continuous improvement of all financial processes, workflows and forms
- Assist in Profit and Loss report, expenses, and account receivables
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
Qualifications/Skills
- BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree
- Previous experience in accounting for the Film Industry is strongly preferred
- Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and
- Strong attention to detail, deadline-oriented, time management
- Data entry management and analytical skills
