Job description
Our Customer is a Silicon Valley-based company that is engaged in researching emerging technologies.
We are seeking a contract QA Data Analyst & Telemetry Specialist to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Mountain View, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze telemetry data and system logs to investigate product behavior and support quality assurance efforts
- Identify relevant logs and traces across environments to diagnose issues and inform test coverage strategy
- Partner with engineering teams to define, scope, and validate instrumentation and telemetry requirements
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards that surface test results, coverage trends, performance metrics, and release health
- Produce clear, structured written reports combining narrative, visuals, and metrics to communicate product quality and risks
- Support root cause analysis using logs, traces, metrics, and real-world usage patterns
- Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, engineering, product, and data teams to align on quality signals and reporting needs
- Define and refine quality metrics and KPIs related to defect trends, regressions, feature coverage, and release readiness
- Translate raw telemetry signals into actionable insights for leadership and technical stakeholders
- Support QA prioritization and validation efforts through data-driven analysis
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, software engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 7 years of overall professional experience
- 3–5 years of recent cross-functional experience working with engineering, QA, or data teams
- Strong hands-on experience with data analysis using tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar
- Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Grafana, Looker, Superset, or similar
- Experience producing concise, actionable written reports for technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with log analysis and observability tools
- Experience collaborating with engineers on instrumentation and logging design
- Understanding of QA practices, release validation, and production monitoring
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach
Preferred:
- Background in quality assurance, test automation, release engineering, site reliability engineering, or systems engineering
- Experience with distributed tracing, event-driven logging, or observability frameworks
- Experience working in continuous delivery or high-observability environments
- Prior involvement in incident response, postmortems, or quality reviews
- Relevant certifications in data analytics, SQL, visualization, or observability tools
