Job description

Our Customer’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through their family of apps and services, they are building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together.

We are seeking a Qualitative UX Researcher on a contract basis to run in-depth qualitative interviews with users, own the creation of discussion guides, moderate interviews, and report findings to cross-functional partners. This person will help drive an ongoing research program to inform product strategy for AI-related products. There are fast-moving timelines, and the right candidate must demonstrate the ability to pivot alongside the product team.

This role partners directly with a tightly integrated product pod operating with significant autonomy to conceive, build, and launch new products. The position plays a critical role in driving product success through research at every stage of development.

Formative research is conducted to identify latent user needs and emerging problem spaces suitable for product innovation. Iterative design research shapes early concepts into testable prototypes, while creative evaluative research refines and prepares products for successful market entry. This role requires a strong ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations that guide product strategy and execution.

This role is remote - PST preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers to identify, define, and deliver meaningful products
  • Develop and execute research roadmaps independently and in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Lead qualitative research studies across all phases of the product development lifecycle
  • Design interview guides and conduct qualitative interviews, including in-depth and semi-structured interviews
  • Conduct concept testing, usability testing, and moderated research sessions
  • Document insights in real time and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations
  • Contribute research insights to product strategy, execution, and go-to-market planning
  • Manage external research vendors to augment internal research capabilities
  • Translate research findings into compelling narratives to influence stakeholders

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Information Science, Media Studies, Computer Science, Economics, or a related human behavior field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required
  • Strong qualitative interviewing skills, including writing interview guides and conducting in-depth and semi-structured interviews
  • Experience in qualitative research design and qualitative data analysis
  • Experience documenting usability findings and synthesizing research insights
  • Proven experience managing and partnering with research vendors
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to support hypotheses
  • Strong storytelling skills to communicate insights effectively to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making in balancing competing demands

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in program or project management
  • Prior experience using AI tools
  • Experience contributing to go-to-market planning

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
