Job description

Our Customer is a leading provider of alternative and specialty parts to repair and accessorize automobiles and other vehicles with operations in North America, Europe, and Taiwan. They offer their customers a broad range of replacement systems, components, equipment, and parts to repair and accessorize automobiles, trucks, and recreational and performance vehicles.


We are seeking a Regional Controller to support customer's business needs. This position needs to be located on the West Coast. We are targeting Phoenix, AZ, Sacramento, CA, Fontana, CA, Sumner, WA & Portland, OR. We will be open to another city on the West Coast as long as they are near a major airport and ideally an office location. This position will have 70% travel in the first year and 50% thereafter.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate consolidated financial information for internal and external reporting, following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Develop and maintain adequate internal control policies and procedures.
  • Provide extensive business and analytical/financial support to line management.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual operating reports/analysis for management.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget.
  • Facilitate achieving targeted business performance by reviewing, with the Region VP and location management, the financial and operational performance of the plants/branches monthly.
  • Providing technical accounting support to the Plant Manager/General Manager/Region VP.
  • Coordinate with corporate financial staff on the quarterly and annual SEC filings by clarifying/confirming key statistical data (Quarterly Controllers File).
  • Conduct annual internal control compliance visits at each operation.
  • Prepare, examine, and/or analyze accounting records, general ledger, monthly financial statements, journal entries, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Supervise any staff supporting these activities.
  • Serve as a conduit for communication with branches/plants/divisions and other corporate departments.
  • Lead or participate in due diligence efforts to acquire business for the organization
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, developing, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a publicly held manufacturing or distribution environment is desired.
  • CPA professional certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole statistical inference, and forecasting. Ability to apply and analyze concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain, and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations to support business objectives.
  • Frequently communicates complex information across departments and interacts with management. Can present, resolve, and address delicate situations. Can motivate and persuade others.
  • Problems are varied and complex, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. Problems are solved using knowledge and skills, general precedents, and practices.
  • Decisions impact the management and operations within a department or business unit. May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department.
  • Provides and sets goals and priorities for the functional area. May make recommendations for department policies, practices, and programs. Makes decisions for and/or resolves problems for others.
  • Handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity.


Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse frequently.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements). Up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
