Our Customer is seeking a Reliability Test Technician on a contract basis to support the development and testing of autonomous platforms at both system and component levels.
This role plays a critical part in validating performance, durability, and reliability through structured and methodical test execution. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience designing and executing test plans in an organized and disciplined manner and demonstrates a strong passion for improving robotic systems through rigorous validation and failure analysis.
This role requires on-site presence, and candidates must be located within commuting distance of San Francisco, CA (Bay Area).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to execute tests and document findings to support root cause analysis
- Conduct hands-on testing with electronics, sensors, actuators, and structural components
- Develop and document detailed test procedures and results to ensure repeatability and future reference
- Maintain an organized and efficient test lab environment
- Provide ongoing feedback to improve test specifications, setups, and system performance
- Support testing activities at external laboratories and field test sites
- Operate and monitor environmental test chambers, vibration tables, and mechanical load frames
- Utilize data acquisition systems and instrumentation to capture and analyze test data
- Assist with system integration and testing in Linux-based environments
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in mechanical, electrical, computer, automotive, or robotics industries
- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics and technical datasheets
- Experience operating environmental test chambers, vibration tables, and mechanical load frames
- Experience soldering, crimping, and managing cables in lab or shop environments
- Proficiency using lab tools and equipment, including DAQ systems, sensors, measurement instruments, 3D printers, and shop power tools
- Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar for model navigation and design edits
- Experience working with Linux systems for robotics testing and integration
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to work on-site and travel to field test locations as needed
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in hands-on lab or warehouse environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting robotic system validation and troubleshooting
- Experience working in fast-paced hardware development or prototype environments
