The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a Retention Marketing Manager to join their team on a contract basis.
About the Team
Etsy's Seller Retention and Engagement Marketing (REM) team is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, data integration, production, deployment, and analysis of seller marketing campaigns. These campaigns provide over 6 million sellers with the support they need to continue to grow their business on Etsy.
About the Role
This role is centered on product lifecycle, using behavioral insights and data to understand where sellers are in their journey and influencing what they do next. Your work will focus on driving adoption of Etsy's tools and services while also celebrating sellers' achievements, encouraging them and building momentum to grow their shops successfully. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure campaigns align with Etsy's strategic product priorities and long-term company goals. A strong analytical approach is critical, as you'll be responsible for building targeted segments, defining key audiences, and working with analytics partners to uncover opportunities that enhance seller engagement and retention. We're looking for someone equal parts strategist and builder someone who understands how lifecycle marketing, segmentation, and behavioral design come together to drive retention.
In this role, you will
- Shape the Seller Engagement roadmap: Play a part in the development of a long-term Seller REM roadmap. Propose, prioritize, and deliver experiments and campaigns that directly support seller health, product adoption, and engagement outcomes.
- Define & implement multi-channel marketing strategies: Build and implement multi-channel strategies in partnership with Marketing Analytics and Seller Marketing teams.
- Define target audiences, optimize contact frequency, improve customer experience, and establish automation requirements to optimize engagement.
- Drive product adoption through retention tactics: Apply your expertise in lifecycle marketing to create moments that nudge sellers toward actions including setting up listings, adopting shipping tools, improving shop quality, or exploring new features.
- Use data to build smart segments & uncover opportunities: Work closely with analytics teams to develop robust audience segmentation and identify key opportunities to improve seller retention.
- Leverage predictive insights and engagement trends to refine strategies and optimize campaign effectiveness.
Requirements
Must Haves
- Proven retention & lifecycle marketing expertise: Ability to drive behavior change and product adoption through data-driven tactics, Success designing and optimizing multi-channel lifecycle campaigns
- Strong technical & analytical proficiency: Experience with marketing automation platforms (ideally Braze) and audience segmentation, Comfort interpreting behavioral insights, testing results, and engagement trends
- Ability to execute end-to-end, including strategic thinking and operational excellence: Skilled at building roadmaps, managing complex workflows, and delivering experiments
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in marketplace or e-commerce environments
- Experience with behavioral design or predictive modeling
- Strong HTML/CSS email dev skills
- Knowledge of Etsy and/or seller tools
