Job description

Our Customer is an American financial services and digital payments company based in San Francisco, California. They’re working to help their diverse audiences — sellers, individuals, artists, fans, developers, and all the people in between — overcome barriers to access the economy.

We are seeking a highly motivated Risk Analyst on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote in EST/CST.

This role will support risk management and control assessment activities within key banking and fraud operations. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently while engaging business partners across multiple functions. The analyst will drive the identification, documentation, and reporting of risks and controls, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management standards and frameworks.

Main coverage areas:

  • Banking Operations
  • Remote Deposit Capture
  • Missing Deposits and Investigations
  • Behavioral Insights and Fraud Analytics
  • Chargebacks, Bitcoin, and Financial Crime
  • Account Takeover and Scam Analysis
  • Customer Onboarding and Identity Verification
  • Disputes and Traditional Banking Movements (ACH, mobile check deposits, wire transfers, paper deposits)

Responsibilities:

  • Engage business partners in risk and control identification, documentation, and mapping to support RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment) preparation.
  • Support dashboard creation, monitoring, and executive-level reporting on risk metrics and key controls.
  • Maintain risk registers, control inventories, and other governance artifacts.
  • Act as a liaison between business teams and first-line risk management, ensuring timely progress of risk workstreams.
  • Manage issues through the full issue management lifecycle, from identification to remediation.
  • Collaborate with FLRM program teams (Issue Management, Control Testing, Policy Governance) to ensure alignment of risk priorities across the organization.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, or related roles in financial services or regulated industries.
  • Strong background in Banking Operations and Fraud Risk Management, with familiarity in Machine Learning and Data Science fundamentals.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management frameworks such as COSO ERM, ISO 31000, and Basel II/III.
  • Proven experience executing RCSA processes, control testing, issue management, and related risk activities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities with the ability to partner effectively with business process owners.
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
