Job description

The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, located in Goffstown, New Hampshire (but the work is remote)! They are looking for a contract-based Sales Representative to help drive sales of their all-natural cocktail and mocktail mixers. The Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying targets/leads and driving sales in assigned regions/markets. Their focus will be primarily on gift shops, gourmet food shops, natural food stores, small chains, wineries/distilleries, independent grocery stores, liquor/wine stores, and other potential clients.

The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, a deep understanding of the sales process, and feels comfortable with cold outreach. We would be particularly keen to have Sales Reps located in regions where we are growing quickly: New England (e.g., Boston, Providence, CT), New York City, the upper Midwest (esp. the Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Minneapolis), and the Southeast (e.g., Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida). Given that some in-person cold calling will be required, it may be important for interested applicants to be located in or near urban areas or tourist-focused areas.

Our target accounts tend to be independent stores who are focused not only on margins and turn rate but also on cultivating a certain aesthetic. This isn't a high-powered sales job but one where you can talk with a wide variety of independent retailers who may require a bit of hand-holding, a few samples, and consistent follow-up. In-person visits, attendance at local trade shows, emails, and mailings will be some of your primary tools.

Core responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities to fuel pipeline through cold calling, email outreach, mailings, in-person visits, and more.
  • Closely collaborate with our owner and sales team to help acquire new accounts and support them so that they become repeat customers.
  • Sell, sell, and sell. Our main focus is on driving sales. We expect Sales Reps to show results and to put a great face on the company. We're open to your strategies to drive sales and can even work with you to drive some direct-to-consumer sales in order to top up your sales figures.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience with wholesale sales
  • An appreciation for the concerns of independent retail, grocery stores, foodservice outlets, and others
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with customers
  • Proficient user of CRM software
  • Highly motivated, driven, and self-starting individual

Company benefits/perks

  • This is a contract, commission-based position. We are offering a relatively modest $20 per hour for the work and a 15% commission rate. You will earn commission on any new accounts that you develop for a period of two years. Commissions are not capped.

Sales reps may be required to travel to our offices in New Hampshire before starting in order to better learn our products and approaches.
