We are seeking a SAP Configuration Engineer on a contract basis to provide technical expertise for system design, testing, implementation, and support. The ABAP/EDI developer will be a self-starter, effective communicator, and must be driven to deliver results.
This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, analyze, and modify SAP ABAP programs, including enhancements, conversions, user exits, ALV reports, LSMW, RFCs, ALE/EDI, IDocs, BAPIs, and BADIs
- Develop and maintain SAP Scripts and Smart Forms
- Configure and enhance SAP applications
- Debug SAP system issues and provide production support
- Support SAP ERP applications and related business processes
- Support SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) processes and enhancements
- Develop small SAP enhancements, reports, user exits, and IDoc programs
- Support inbound and outbound IDoc processing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and error resolution
- Troubleshoot and resolve SAP and EDI production issues
- Serve as the first point of contact for SAP and EDI support tickets
- Understand and support EDI transactions, including 850, 855, 846, 856, 810, and 820
- Support trading partner onboarding and maintenance
- Coordinate with vendors and trading partners to establish and maintain EDI integrations
- Work with middleware teams to validate EDI mappings between trading partner transactions and SAP IDoc structures
- Troubleshoot EDI mapping, data validation, and transaction issues
- Partner with business stakeholders to support SAP and IT initiatives
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of SAP ABAP development experience in SAP ECC 6.0 or higher
- Strong SAP ABAP development skills
- Experience developing enhancements, reports, user exits, ALV reports, RFCs, LSMW, BAPIs, BADIs, SAP Scripts, and Smart Forms
- Strong functional knowledge of SAP Sales & Distribution (SD)
- Experience supporting SAP configuration, development, and production support
- Experience with SAP IDocs, ALE/EDI, and EDI integrations
- Experience onboarding trading partners and supporting EDI implementations
- Strong understanding of EDI message mapping and transaction flow
- Experience supporting EDI transactions including 850, 855, 846, 856, 810, and 820
- Experience working with third-party EDI mapping providers and processing partners
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to support both SAP development and EDI operations
- Ability to commute to the Charlotte area for a hybrid work schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Seeburger middleware
- Experience writing SQL queries
- Experience with one or more SAP ECC implementations
- Experience in wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing industries
- Strong expertise with SAP IDocs and EDI integrations
