Our customer offers automobile, homeowners, and other personal lines of insurance to members across 23 states and the District of Columbia. We are looking for a contract Scrum Engineer to support 2–3 teams by facilitating Agile ceremonies and maintaining a consistent team cadence. This role removes impediments, partners with Engineering Leaders, Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to manage the backlog, and ensures clear documentation and communication. The Scrum Engineer tracks and reports team metrics such as velocity and burn down to support transparency. This position also supports basic project planning and status reporting to ensure alignment with delivery goals.


This role is 100% remote.



Responsibilities:

  • Support 2 Agile teams to ensure an efficient operating cadence and coordinate team ceremonies, inclusive of daily scrum, backlog refinement, planning, end-of-sprint demonstrations, and retrospectives
  • Facilitates discussions, ensures proper documentation in collaboration with other team members
  • Removes impediments and/or guides the team to remove impediments by finding the right resource to assist
  • Shields the team from outside distractions and interferences
  • Assists the team and the release manager with release planning and deployment strategy
  • Monitors, reviews, and maintains the sprint backlog in coordination with Engineering Leaders, tech leads, Analysts and Business Stakeholders, and other team members
  • Assists with internal and external communications and project reporting.
  • Provides team sprint and backlog reporting (burn down, velocity, etc.)
  • Coordinates retrospectives and works with the team to implement the improvements and opportunities identified during those meetings
  • Supports project milestone planning, tracks key deliverables, and provides routine status updates to leadership and stakeholders


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree educated in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business.
  • 6 years + experience in a similar project management role, preferably in a fast-paced service delivery environment.
  • CSM (Certified SCRUM Master), PMP, or ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) certification.
  • Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks
  • Good facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, and continual improvement
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact proficiently with all levels of management and staff.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated.
