We are seeking a part-time Tax Preparer who specializes in personal income tax returns. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who wants flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to work with a supportive and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules).
- Analyze client financial data to ensure accurate and compliant return preparation.
- Assist clients with tax questions, deductions, credits, and planning opportunities.
- Organize and reconcile supporting documents, including payroll, investment statements, and other financial records.
- Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules for individual sole proprietors when applicable.
- Utilize accounting software platforms (QBO, Xero, QB Desktop) to pull supporting data when necessary.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of client tax returns.
- Maintain client confidentiality and deliver outstanding client service.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of tax experience in preparing individual income tax returns.
- EA or CPA designation strongly preferred (or actively pursuing).
- Proficiency with Ultratax CS.
- Familiarity with QBO, Xero, and QuickBooks Desktop required.
- Experience using CaseWare a plus.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Experience with fixed assets accounting and depreciation schedules.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple returns during busy seasons.
