Job description
Our customer is a large United States insurance company that is backed by more than 100 years of experience and provides insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the United States., Canada and Europe. Headquartered in Chicago, IL, they have more than 20 US locations.
We are seeking a contract SOC Quality Analyst 3 to support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.
This role will assist in QA/QC duties across all SOC shifts to ensure timely reporting and tracking of all SOC issues for management review. This additional support in QA will ensure greater capacity in review and scope of coaching efforts.
This is going to be a specialized L2 role that will be working in the QA function; they will be more focused on SOC KPIs/metrics/reporting than active incident work.
Work Hours: 1st shift SOC L2 role (standard work hours: M-F, 9 am-5:45 pm CT). Flexibility with schedule is needed.
Responsibilities:
- Support global IT security operations in collaboration with US SOC teams
- Manage security operations queues, including execution, oversight, and delegation
- Perform case reviews and quality assurance activities
- Review and report on operational metrics, SLAs, and KPIs
- Assist with incident case work and investigations as needed
- Provide management updates on security issues and operational impacts
- Facilitate recurring QA meetings with L2 and L3 analysts
- Coordinate training sessions, roundtables, and knowledge-sharing activities
- Mentor junior analysts and support team development and career growth
- Collaborate with SOC, Incident Response, Intelligence, and Enterprise Security teams on investigations and threat hunting
- Identify network visibility gaps and recommend security improvements
- Develop, maintain, and enhance security playbooks, processes, and detection capabilities
- Communicate security incidents and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Support technical writing, documentation, and knowledge base management
- Manage technical security projects with limited oversight
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of technical experience in cybersecurity, SOC operations, or related security disciplines
- Familiarity with SOC operations, scheduling, and security tools, including SIEM, SOAR, and DFIR platforms
- Strong understanding of the incident response lifecycle and cybersecurity best practices
- Experience with SLA calculations, KPI tracking, and operational reporting
- Knowledge of IT security policies, controls, and regulations, such as SOX and privacy requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and providing QA feedback to analysts
- Ability to manage multiple technical projects independently
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and reporting tools
- Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams
- Insurance industry experience is a plus
Preferred Certifications:
- CISSP
- GCFA
- GCIH
- GCFE
- ITIL certification
- Equivalent cybersecurity or computer science certifications preferred
