We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Data Analyst – Finance, Billing & Data Analytics on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is hybrid in Durham, NC.
The Sr. Business Systems Data Analyst supports an IT-driven initiative to retire legacy functionality and implement modern solutions for an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This role conducts impact analyses, gathers requirements, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to transition existing processes, reports, and analytics to a new platform.
This position serves as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and EDW engineers, ensuring technical solutions align with business goals. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, data validation, migration support, stakeholder communication, process optimization, and ongoing data governance support.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with business and functional leads to understand business process flows and source system dependencies (SAP, SFDC, etc.).
- Gather and document requirements and artifacts for data model design and implementation.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Validate the accuracy, relevance, and business alignment of data models and outputs.
- Provide ongoing support to business users on data analysis, reporting, and transition-related inquiries.
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess issues and propose solutions.
- Support and reinforce data quality and governance standards and methodologies.
- Create and maintain user guides, training materials, and reference documentation.
- Contribute to impact assessments, system transition planning, and the adoption of new EDW functionality.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced data accuracy.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a highly analytical role.
- Must have experience working with Finance and Billing data (Quote-to-Cash, GL).
- Experience with at least one ERP system (SAP, Oracle, or Salesforce).
- Experience building visualizations using Tableau.
- Strong SQL skills, including optimized queries, joins, and subqueries.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of data quality and governance best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting migration or modernization initiatives is a plus.
