Job description

The Mom Project is proud to support our client, a retail banking institution based in Chicago, with their search for a Senior Developer to join their team!



Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain middleware and back-end systems supporting payment rail platforms
  • Architect scalable, high-performance, and stable system capabilities for payment processing solutions
  • Design and maintain responsive system architectures, databases, servers, APIs, and integrations with third-party applications
  • Build dynamic software products and applications across front-end, middleware, and back-end components
  • Manage software development activities from conception through deployment and post-production support
  • Maintain, enhance, and upgrade software applications following deployment
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Guide and support software engineering teams in application development and deployment activities
  • Oversee automated testing processes and analyze testing outcomes
  • Modify, troubleshoot, and test enhancements to existing applications and systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technical delivery and operational goals
  • Provide technical consulting, analytical support, and problem resolution for complex system issues
  • Ensure cross-platform compatibility and resolve issues during testing and production phases
  • Contribute to technical documentation and system design artifacts
  • Support Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of relevant software development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working within financial institutions and a strong understanding of payment flows for Wires, ACH, TCH, or Zelle platforms
  • Strong experience with backend technologies and frameworks, including Node.js and/or Java
  • Experience with AWS services, including serverless and event-driven/reactive architectures
  • Experience working with XML/XSD technologies
  • Experience with databases and caching technologies, including DynamoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other NoSQL or RDBMS platforms
  • Experience using version control and collaboration tools such as GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and AWS Bedrock
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with data-driven decision making
  • Ability to work independently and manage non-routine technical challenges

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO message specifications
  • Experience with front-end technologies and frameworks
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification
  • AWS Certified Developer certification


Hours and Location:

  • Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week
  • On-site in Chicago, IL, and Tempe, AZ



Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents the company's expected target for the first year in this position.
