We are seeking a Senior Employee Relations Specialist on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This is a 100% remote role; candidates in New York or Chicago are preferred.
Responsibilities:
Investigation & Case Management
- Lead thorough, impartial investigations of policy violations, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims across all business units
- Document findings and maintain confidential case records in the ServiceNow system
- Manage multiple high-priority investigations simultaneously while meeting established deadlines
Consultation & Advisory
- Provide expert guidance to stakeholders on complex employee relations cases, including recommended actions and potential outcomes
- Advise on appropriate disciplinary measures and corrective actions based on the investigation findings
- Collaborate with the Legal team on cases with potential litigation risk
Compliance & Risk Management
- Stay current on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Identify trends and recommend policy updates to mitigate organizational risk
- Support compliance audits and reporting requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Industrial Relations, Business, or related field
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years in employee relations with demonstrated investigation experience
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HRIS systems (ServiceNow preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment law, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and state-specific regulations
- Investigative Excellence: Proven ability to conduct thorough, unbiased workplace investigations
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with complete discretion
- Judgment: Sound decision-making skills in ambiguous and high-stakes situations
Preferred:
- Master's degree in HR, Law, or related
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification
- Experience in multi-state or global organizations
- Background in employment law or workplace investigations
