Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Technician on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Support Development and Sustaining Engineering teams in assuring the quality of new product designs.
- Identify quality issues related to instruments, accessories, software subsystems, and hardware.
- Drive resolution of product quality issues through data analysis, reporting, and change advocacy.
- Develop subject matter expertise in product use, failure modes, and debug tools.
- Execute processes, procedures, test methods, and fixtures for clinical simulation using engineering and clinical knowledge.
- Execute test protocols for clinically based surgical simulation, automated testing, and functional verification.
- Generate test plans, protocols, and reports with guidance from engineering teams.
- Participate in the product development lifecycle, including design reviews.
- Review design documentation and UI prototypes to assess usability.
- Evaluate instrument designs using measurement devices and inspection tools.
- Identify, reproduce, and escalate new or recurring software and hardware failure modes.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and document findings in bug-tracking systems.
- Complete documentation for test protocols, results, and reports.
- Learn and support software build processes to execute, monitor, and troubleshoot testing workflows.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 6+ years of experience in a software testing environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline is a plus.
- Proficiency with Linux OS, including file system navigation, process management, and terminal shell commands.
- Experience executing software and hardware testing procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience using measurement devices and inspection tools.
- Ability to read and navigate technical documentation.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Quick learner with strong initiative and ability to follow direction.
- Strong teamwork mindset with shared accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with software quality assurance testing methodologies.
