Job description

Overview: Our Client is seeking an elite writer who has deep technical knowledge of multiple asset classes and financial services business lines, as well as the ability to convey complex ideas in a compelling way across various forms of thought leadership and marketing content. This position is ideal for an experienced in-house writer who desires more control over the projects he or she takes on or a finance professional who is passionate about writing. The writer will start as a part-time, project-based contractor with the potential to become a full-time employee if there is a mutual fit and desire. About our client: They are a team of writers and editors who create white papers, blog posts, e-books, and other forms of thought leadership and marketing content for financial services firms. Founded in 2015, they have grown steadily and work with a diverse group of clients—from the world’s largest asset managers to boutique managers and fintech start-ups. Responsibilities • Interview clients’ subject-matter experts (SMEs) and marketing professionals • Research topics to supplement information provided by SMEs • Identify the appropriate content types to support the client’s marketing goals and convey the subject materials • Create detailed outlines that organize the story and then turn outlines into fully fleshed out content pieces • Incorporate edits from the client and managing editor • Proofread and edit drafts written by other team members Qualifications • 10+ years of experience working in the financial services industry; preferably with 5+ years working in a role that is product-focused or client-facing • Deep knowledge of one or more of the following verticals: institutional asset management; investment banking; auditing and accounting; consulting; private wealth management; or fintech • Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to explore new subjects • Ability to confidently lead interviews with corporate executives, portfolio managers, bankers, analysts, and other accomplished financial professionals • Engaging personality and strong “bed-side manner” • Focus on finding solutions for clients’ marketing objectives and business goals • Ability to graciously accept feedback and adapt to evolving project goals and ambiguity • Preferred: MBA and/or CFA, CPA, or CFP designation Benefits of working with the company • Flexible work hours and location; the role would likely be 5 - 20 hours a week depending on the project pipeline • Join a young, growing company that already works with some of the financial services industry’s most trusted firms • Control over what projects you pursue and which subjects you cover • Opportunity to explore and write about trends that are shaping the markets, sectors, and asset classes that drive the global economy
