We are seeking a Senior Information Architect on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.



Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive global navigation strategy across the site and non-product sub-sites
  • Design and implement navigation standards, best practices, and governance models
  • Oversee and mentor Information Architects in taxonomy, metadata, and ontology development
  • Develop, manage, and govern metadata schemas, taxonomies, and ontologies
  • Define requirements for ontology tools and oversee taxonomy and ontology governance processes
  • Drive adoption of metadata standards across systems to improve content management, search, and personalization
  • Lead development of content auto-tagging strategies and guidance for manual tagging
  • Partner with editorial teams to develop scalable content models for dynamic content delivery
  • Collaborate with SEO teams to align information architecture and metadata strategies with traffic goals
  • Review designs to ensure information structure supports meaning, relevance, and usability
  • Analyze site analytics and customer feedback to identify findability issues and improve navigation experiences
  • Conduct user research and usability testing focused on navigation and wayfinding
  • Oversee content analysis efforts to support navigation and content modeling initiatives
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in information architecture, metadata, and ontology practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to broader information and digital strategy initiatives
  • Lead or support tool migrations, data initiatives, and new architecture solutions for content and discoverability challenges

Skills/Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing taxonomies, ontologies, metadata, and classification schemas
  • 5+ years of experience in information management and content organization
  • 3+ years of experience working with content management, taxonomy management, or search systems
  • Experience improving discoverability through structured content and metadata strategies
  • Experience driving change management and influencing organizational adoption of new standards and processes
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, navigation design, and usability principles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and metrics to drive decisions
  • Proven experience leading tool migrations or implementing new data and content solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Strong organizational and execution skills with attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience managing teams in taxonomy, catalog, or content organizations
  • Experience in planning and conducting user research and analyzing results
  • Experience in eCommerce or retail environments
