Job description

SCOPE OF ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Manager of HR Operations on a contract basis to support the Talent team. We are looking for candidates based in Illinois willing to work in a remote or hybrid work environment in the Central time zone. This is an urgent hire, expected to start immediately. The contract requires a 3 to 6-month commitment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but mighty Human Resources team at a financial non-profit organization. The contractor will have the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of HR including but not limited to HR Operations and Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Management.

This role requires a dynamic approach, encompassing both hands-on tactical support and strategic engagement to drive the organization towards its goals effectively. The successful candidate must be able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have a passion for learning and DEI. This role will report directly to the Lead HR Director.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE

$65 - $75 (per hour)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A commitment to the mission and a desire to positively impact the trajectory of a highly impactful, national nonprofit
  • 7+ years of experience in progressive human resources roles, including 2+ years of experience managing end-to-end payroll and benefits administration
  • Demonstrated success in leading recruitment and talent management
  • Experience engaging in compensation strategy and market-based compensation programming with salary bands and offer negotiations
  • Demonstrated commitment to embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across all HR operations
  • Excellent project and stakeholder management skills
  • Expert MS Office or Google Suite software skills, experience with applicant tracking software, and strong technical/computer skills
  • Superior grammar, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience working with a professional employer organization (PEO) and/or nonprofits is a plus

Vaccination Required: This role requires occasional in-person attendance for company and all staff events. The incumbent is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination status at the time of hire. (A person is considered “fully vaccinated” once it has been at least two weeks since the person received the last required dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, such as the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the first dose of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Human Resources Operations and Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees relative to HR policies, procedures, and matters of concern
  • Serve as coach and advisor to employees at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Create surveys, reports, and analyze data which may include employee engagement, turnover, exit survey responses, and headcount reports
  • Ensure legal and contractual compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR laws and regulations by location (federal, state, local)
  • Lead payroll process and benefits administration
  • Manage strong vendor relationships including benefits brokers, PEO/HRIS, and performance management software
  • Conduct staff exit interviews and gather data to analyze trends that may influence best practices and other process improvements

Talent Acquisition:

  • Lead hiring process by coordinating job postings on websites, reviewing resumes, screening and interviewing candidates for assigned positions, and coordinating reference and background checks with third-party administrator
  • Lead offer and negotiation process with hiring team and Chief Operating Officer
  • Partner with hiring managers and Operations Team to ensure a smooth recruiting and onboarding process
  • Maintain various reports/metrics for candidate referral sources, posting sites/resources, recruiting expenses

Talent Management:

  • Lead performance management process to include project management, administration of our performance management software, stakeholder support, train employees, and development of education and tools
  • Support performance calibration and goal setting with stakeholders
  • Coordinate and execute year-end performance management activities, including promotions, transfers, and compensation
  • Assist with compiling talent management reports to include succession planning and talent analytics
