We are seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote. Candidates in Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or Atlanta, GA are highly desired as this position has the possibility of extending or going permanent for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do:
- Research and advise team and employees on payroll tax matters, systems issues, and ensure successful tax analysis relating to a mobile workforce.
- Analyze sophisticated payroll tax issues and provide recommendations for solutions relating, but not limited to, employee mobility, reciprocal taxation, RSU taxation and reporting, employer-issued STD payments, local taxation, and employer-provided fringe benefits.
- Process and audit regular RSU-related uploads and downloads from vendor using ADP Global View system.
- Review and analyze employee tax jurisdictions, including taxation for mobile employees, and creating tax adjustments as needed.
- Liaison for the department with BU/FU Analysts, GL, Corporate Tax, and any other finance stakeholder to provide data, reports, and research any outstanding issues.
- Monitor uploads into the payroll system from third party providers and vendors.
- Also responsible for return uploads back to third-party vendors.
- Monitor and maintain ordinary tax elections and resets for potential issues relating to the same.
- Maintain and analyze multi-state taxation tracking, including local tax issues.
- Worker’s comp processing for monopolistic jurisdictions and reporting for external auditors.
- Work with accounting to audit daily funding including regular payroll, off-cycle payrolls, amendments, quarterly true-ups, and late originals.
- Review and partner with benefits to ensure proper accounting and taxation of benefits. Including domestic partner and STD/LTD payments processed internally.
- Assists department in integrating acquisitions/mergers.
- Respond to employee requests for additional information or clarification relating to taxes, RSU payments, and STD payments.
- Oversees payroll tax details relating to the fiscal close process.
- Documentation of and recommendations for procedures, SOPs, and internal controls.
- Department deadlines met to provide an excellent employee experience.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in payroll tax.
- Must be able to work through ambiguity, be self-motivated with the ability to piece together facts and data necessary to identify issues, propose resolutions, make decisions and operationalize necessary change to improve taxes and service delivery.
- Strong end-to-end mindset and understanding of all payroll operations, including the upstream and downstream impacts of payroll and employment tax operations.
- A focus on continuous process improvement, through SOPs, systems, integrations, etc. is key to ensuring tax operations remain cutting-edge while the service delivery continues to delight customers.
- Independent thinker with the ability to work with little day-to-day direction, while handling a complex payroll operation timely and accurately.
