Job description
The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a Senior Product Designer to join their team on a part time, contract basis.
This role is 20 hours per week
This role can be Hybrid or Remote in Brooklyn, NY
About The Team
The Payments team sits within Etsy's broader Trust group. On the Payments team, this contractor will join 2 other designers to support across 7 pods. The type of projects ranges from ensuring sellers get paid, to keeping our sellers compliant with changing regulations, to ensuring that buyers can checkout and transact.
About The Role
This person would join our Payments initiative, alongside 2 other designers. Our payments work spans both the buyer and seller-sides of the marketplace. You'd be expected to represent design in cross-functional pod meetings, like standups and backlog grooming. There you'd be accountable for accurately representing design status, ensuring smooth handoff to engineers, and oversight during the development stage of work.
You will also operate within an existing Product Design culture. There you'll be leveraging our design system, working with our UX Foundations to expand patterns if needed, and participating in crit to ensure your work is meeting our quality bar. You will be a thought partner to product, anticipating the range of use-cases and edge-cases of your projects. And you'll be a guide to engineers as they build and deliver your projects, ensuring the shipped product is aligned with the designs you deliver.
Requirements
- 5+ years working as a product designer in a cross-functional team environment
- Proficiency leveraging design systems in Figma, including file organization, components, tokens, and auto-layout
- Experience partnering with engineers to manage tradeoffs and ensure quality of the shipped product
Must-Haves
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma, Claude, and Cursor
- Experience working as a direct partner to product management and engineering to define project goals and requirements
- Experience working as a member of a larger design team, considering your individual projects as well as the design system as a whole
- Ability to collaborate with other designers and functions to create consistent, aligned, high quality solutions
- Experience delivering detailed specs to engineering, being a resource during development, and ensuring engineers are delivering to spec
- Ability to manage your backlog and workload independently, setting clear expectations for delivery estimates, next steps, and escalating any blockers
Nice-to-Haves: Experience in ecommerce, seller tools, or business tools
Must have skills: 5+ years working as a product designer; Advanced knowledge of Figma; design systems; Product Development Good to have skills: designing for business tools; designing for payments; designing for seller tools; eCommerce
