Job description

The Mom Project is excited to support our client with their search for an experienced Senior Project Manager, People Team to join their team on a contract basis.

We're looking for a highly skilled and results-driven Senior People Project Manager to spearhead critical projects that transform our People initiatives. In this role, you'll be the driving force behind the successful planning, execution, and delivery of strategic People projects across our global organization, ensuring they meet objectives, stay on schedule, and adhere to budget.

You'll work directly with People leadership and cross-functional teams, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, People Operations, and Learning & Development, to define project scopes, manage resources, mitigate risks, and communicate progress. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced project management professional to make a tangible impact on our employee experience and organizational effectiveness in a dynamic, people-centric environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end project management lifecycle for complex, cross-functional People projects, from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, control, and closure. Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with project sponsors and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with People strategy and business goals.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, work breakdown structures, resource allocation, and budget tracking.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks and dependencies, developing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, including stand-ups, progress reviews, and stakeholder updates, ensuring clear communication and timely decision-making.
  • Track project progress against milestones and deliverables, providing regular, transparent reporting to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Drive accountability among project team members and resolve impediments to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Implement and refine project management best practices and tools, contributing to the continuous improvement of our People project delivery framework.
  • Manage project documentation, ensuring all artifacts (e.g., project charters, requirements, risk logs) are current and accessible.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and identify opportunities for future improvements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant portion focused on HR, People, or business transformation projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to scope.
  • Deep expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum) and proficiency with project management software (e.g., Asana, Jira, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet). PMP, Agile, or other relevant project management certifications are highly preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to define scope, manage schedules, and allocate resources effectively across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify critical paths, anticipate challenges, and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing and aligning diverse groups from individual contributors to senior executives.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to rigorous project documentation and reporting.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and adept at managing ambiguity in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with change management principles and their application within projects.
  • Prior experience specifically managing HRIS implementations, talent program rollouts, or total rewards initiatives.
  • Experience in a global company or working with distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools to measure project impact.

Hours and Location

  • Monday - Friday, 40 hours /week
  • Hybrid in NYC
