Job description

The Mom Project is excited to partner with a Chicago-based LLC and its affiliates that are active internationally in real estate development, acquisitions, asset and property management, leasing and corporate real estate services. The Company has developed, owned or managed more than 50 million square feet of properties valued in excess of $10 billion.

We are currently seeking a Property Accountant at our headquarters in downtown Chicago to perform the following duties:

  1. Prepares journal entries, account analysis, cash flows and other work papers for domestic operating real estate properties and affiliated ownership companies. Entity types may include office and residential buildings and new developments.
  2. Compiles scheduled financial statements and reports for external parties.
  3. Assembles Loan Draw Request for operating properties and developments for submission to investors and lenders as required for funding tenant improvement, lease commission and capital expenditure costs.
  4. Collects information and arranges for annual audit; works with outside accountants to insure timely completion of engagement.
  5. Participates in annual budget preparation, periodic cash flow forecasts, and reviews reconciliation of tenant pro rata shares of operating expenses and real estate taxes.
  6. Assists with tax return preparation.
  7. Prepares operating statements and financials for property owners at specified times throughout the month.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (with Accounting classes) from four-year college or university with minimum 3-5 years experience in general accounting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in small public accounting firm or real estate accounting experience preferred, but not required. CPA not required. Individual should be organized and self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills. A qualified candidate will also demonstrate a strong desire to learn and grow within the Company.
